Oberrothorn via Stellisee

We began our hike at Blauherd. After a 15 min. walk we reached Stellisee. If you're lucky with the weather, this is a perfect spot to take pictures of the Matterhorn and its reflection. We went further to Berggasthaus Flue, where the path starts going up the mountain. The ascent via Flue takes 3h30, whereas the more direct trail via Unterrothorn only takes 2h30. You do have a nicer view though and the environment is less affected by ski pistes..
After another hour we reached Furggji (2981m). This is where the 'Weg zur Freiheit' begins, which is also done by a lot of people who take the cableway to Unterrothorn. During the ascent, the panorama just keeps getting better and better, you can see about 30 4000m-peaks. It takes about 1h20 to get to the top. The path isn't really difficult, it's only at the top that it gets somewhat steeper. In the descent we went a bit faster (35 minutes back to Furggji and 1h10 to Blauherd). It was a hot day, so swimming in the Leisee was a welcome refreshment.
