Monte Tamaro – Monte Lema (1962/1621m)
Every year the same procedure as every year. Our English friends from Cornwall are in Switzerland for hiking and
we are studying the weather forecast for the next view days. In the last some weeks we had already wonderful summer- weather but exactly now we have to choose "plan B". The weather forecast in the northern part of the alps is very bad – sadly. So we decided to stay for the next some days in the Ticino, where we would have blue sky and sunny weather...;-)
The traverse from Monte Tamaro over the ridge to Monte Lema is a gentle hike. It's also a good trip for making a round course. We parked our car next to the cable car station Monte Tamaro and picked up the gondola to ride up. After arriving on the Alpe Foppa, the start for our "big-mountains-trip" could begin.
On our trip we could reach nine peaks – see the "Wegpunkte". And from every mountain the view in the valleys or in the distance was different. After about 5 hours we achieved the Monte Lema and with the 3-cabin-cable car we drove down to Miglieglia, the small village beneath Monte Lema.
With the post bus we drove to the railway station Lamone/ Cadempino and with the S-Bahn back to our starting point Rivera, where our car was parked. A wonderful start and roundtrip to acclimatize from zero meter (sealevel) to the mountains in Switzerland.
